Enrique Hernández Jiménez

Loop Diagnostics S.L.
CEO
Barcelona

Born in Soria in 1989, he moved to Lleida to study a degree in Biotechnology. His interest in
science started making an internship in the United States. He took part into an Erasmus study
program in Florence where he specialized in the biomedical area. He finished the PhD in La Paz
Hospital in Madrid in the reprogramming of the immune response in infectious diseases like
sepsis where he published more than 25 papers in less than 5 years, highlighting among them:
ERJ 2017 J as first author, JCI 2016 as second author and JID 2017 as last author. He recently
finished d•HEALTH Barcelona where he found an excellent opportunity to apply my biomedical
knowledge in a business model to create a real value to the society. He learned these
three methodologies: 1) Biodesign, a process for identifying, inventing and implementing new
products and services in healthcare through innovative approaches such as Design Thinking;
2) Lean start-up, A customer-centric approach to validate your business ideas with customer
experiments/tests before scaling them; 3) Creative leadership, a transformative educational
approach to develop business creativity, personal mastery and enterprising leadership. His
vision is the translation of research to the market-leading scientific projects according
the need observed during the clinical environment. Since September 2018 he was actively
working in the group of Dr Gonzalez Suarez on the translational use of RANK inhibitors,
setting up the biological platforms to test the future therapeutic molecules. In addition, he was
characterizing RANK signaling in human lymphoid cells and has been recently awarded a Juan
de la Cierva contract. Finally, I am currently managing as CEO an innovative microbiological diagnostic startup
called Loop Diagnostics S.L; the company is developing the first rapid test that identifies
bacterial infections in the blood through immune activity, this diagnostic device aids emergency
physicians to make better clinical decision managing sepsis infections.
